I didn't know they still did that. I grew up on military bases. The cars all stop and the adults stood beside them (even in Alaska). Everything stopped when you heard that. If you were in line at the PX or commissary, the checkers stopped. We all stood in tribute. The movie theaters on base played the national anthem before the movie started. The first time I went to a theater off base, Star Wars, when the lights went down, I stood up. My civilian friends couldn't understand what I was doing. Imagine my shock when they didn't play it.
