Pattern Hacking the sheer cheek
« on: April 13, 2015, 11:58:38 am »
NOW JUST LOOK AT THIS
here we have a guy on E Bay.UK
that has quite obvoiously been doing the rounds of the sites and stealing patterns and then reselling them.
Cannot believe that people will buy them as most are pretty free to download - the cheek of it

We have one in the US doing the same.  He is selling them on e-bay as airbrush patterns.

Really its just not real
the bit I dont get is why any  one would buy them, you only have to search google images and loads turn up and you can copy them
but he is selling big style I have just searched the sold items  in the UK and they are selling

I see Disney, Marvel (aka Disney) and DC characters there - all copyrighted!  Not to mention Elvis too! (copyrighted as well) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley_Enterprises#cite_ref-6

That is sad!

It takes a really lazy "LOW LIFE" to do this.  Is there any way you can step in there and stop them?  Really can't believe that people are crazy enough to buy them when they can get them for free.   A little baffled here.

What can be done, well little or nothing really
If say I were to lodge a complaint with E bay, because I sell related products ie scroll sawn plaques etc it would be seen as a personal attack on another seller and go unfounded.
They do operate the VERO program, but will only accept a complaint from the person that owns the IP/copyright, and even then said person would be required to prove the IP before they issued a take down notice, and believe me trying to prove copyright in the UK is not easy.

That is totally true Karl... perhaps someone should point Disney to the site :)  They hate folks that use their images without permission to make money

This really makes me upset at people who do this sort of thing. I purchase a lot of patterns from reputable pattern designers and people like this make me want to stay away from sites such as Ebay.
