Hello my new friends,

I am retired US Navy ad have dabbled with wood working for many years off and on. I just got my first saw, a Harbor freight model because the price was right to try and see if I like it. Trial period (28 days) is over and I don't like it...I LOVE IT!!

There are sooo many wonderful things I can do here that it is almost overwhelming. I have never been able to draw ( I mess up stick people), I have quickly learned that I do not have to. There are so many of you that share so many wonderful ideas, pictures, patterns, for free and for sale, that I do not have to worry about drawing. For that and many more reasons I thank all of you!!!

I started with a Harbor Freight saw also. Hope you can used pinless blades.
If not, you will want to find an adapter so you can use smaller blades or
up-grade your saw now that you know you enjoy it.

Thank you everyone!!!  So I have been making sawdust and plastic dust for a few weeks now. I am noticing that there are a lot more patterns that require pinless blades. my saw came with adapters and I bought a pack of plain blades. I cannot seem to keep them in the adapters. I have tried using thinner to remove the coating on the ends, sandpaper the ends to make them less slippery, it feels as if they are not getting the proper (clamping) to keep them in the adapters. Any suggestions?

Keep trying.  You might also clean off the blade holder itself, there might be some residual oil there.  A whole new world will open up to you when you can use pinless blades.  I have never found a quality blade that was pinned.  I started with a machine that used either kind.  Regardless of the quality of your machine, the quality of your blade will make such a significant improvement in your cutting.  Don't buy hardware store blades.  They are the bottom of the barrel.  They cost twice as much and don't hold up.  My personal favorite is either Flying Dutchman or Olson.  Pegasus are pretty good if you have access to them.
