Mantel Clock
« on: March 11, 2015, 06:18:34 am »
Hi all been around just not making myself visible, been having heart/health problems.
But I did finally get the Japanese Mantel Clock  I started several weeks back, made from an old Oak bed headboard resawn to 5mm thick (a tad over 3/16 inch). Here  To view the file click on the far right of the small picture icon shaped like an eye.

Merlin, first I hope you get to feeling better very soon.

Really a nice piece of work, Merlin.  I love the pattern of that clock, mind if I ask where you got the pattern.   I have patterns for several clocks, but I really like yours better.  I have just started doing this type of fret work, in the process of making a box called "The Five Dragon Box", as opposed to cutting portrait type fret work.  I'm really enjoying it.  Hope I do somewhat a well as you do.

Merlin - It looks fantastic.  I started that clock 2012 but stopped when I couldn't buy the correct size face. Yours looks perfect.  May I ask where you purchased yours. i started it for my baby sister [62] and would like to finish it.  You give me hope.  Brian

Brian got the face and clock in NZ clock face
There are other places over your way but thought I'd try local and the price was favourable.
If'n you find NZ too pricey let me know and will find the other sites for you.

pddesertrat: Thanks for the comments, I'm enjoying cutting this type also.
As for where I got the pattern (have misplaced the magazine) but I'm sure it was ssws summer 2004 issue.

Merlin,
This piece is an example of beautiful craftsmanship. You must have nerves of steel to be able to cut such a delicate project, but I'm sure it's just a combination of patience and skill which you definitely have. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy this completed project.

And sprayed with gloss.

For anyone in the US interested in the pattern for that beautiful clock, I found it.

http://www.wildwooddesigns.com/Japanese-Mantel-Clock-Plan-P695.aspx

I do not know if they ship outside the US.
