These baskets were made from Steve Good's plans, this is the smaller of the two "wobble bowls" he has patterns for. Both were made from bubinga, and i'm hoping to get around 10$ for each. tell me what you think about the price, and the baskets. -Matt

Matt those look good.  Bubinga is fairly expensive per board foot.  So $10 for that bowl would be too low go for $15 you can always lower your asking price.  As long as the bowl has a good feel, looks finished you should be able to get that no problem.  Keep up the great work.

They look good Matt, when I started with them, I cut 2 at one sitting, one out of pine the other from walnut and when I glued them I alternated the two woods, it added to the look and I sold them first time out for $10.00 each.

that's really smart Tom, I thought alternating the wood would be cool, but didn't want to waste anything. Can't believe I did not think of using the extra pieces to make another, resulting in 2.

Beautiful work Matt.  I made a couple of those from red oak but have not tried to sell them yet.   I was thinking $10.00 each if I did so I would say at least $15 for yours made from bublinga which is much more expensive then red oak.   You should have no problem with that price.  Give that a shot.  Like was said before, you can always lower the price later.  Good Luck!

Those look great.

For a heads up - I made some baskets something like that. The bigger pieces - between their weight and movement of the wood as humidity changes - put a lot of stress on the small glue joint areas. I built a bowl press like Carole Rothman suggests. After gluing, clamp tight for about 5 minutes. Then remove the clamp and clean up the squeeze-out inside and outside. Reclamp for at least one hour (two is better if you have the patience) to let the glue set.

Smaller pieces (6" diameter) are not so stressed, but I use the same clamp method with those. You might try some Red Oak - lots cheaper wood and they look great after oiling.

I sell mine to a shop for $20 or $25 and they mark them up to either $40 or $50 depending on the wood (black walnut with some sap wood is popular and higher priced).
