Your Flag
« on: July 15, 2010, 08:44:58 pm »
Paw Paw Ray is looking for a pattern with a Palm Tree in it. (http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?topic=1793.0)  The SC flag was given as an option by Kevin.  David then asked if all the states in the USA had a flag for it...which then led to the Florida & Minnesota flag being posted.

I was wondering...what flag does each reader in the community fly or live under?  Country, State, Work, etc...

Post your flag and tell us about it!

I'll start this topic off with the Minnesota State Flag...and the flag of the MN State Patrol.

Ok mine is number 27 in the U.S
From 1868 to 1900, the flag of Florida was simply the seal of Florida on a white background. In the late 1890s, Governor Francis P. Fleming suggested that a red cross be added so that it would not appear to be a white flag of retreat hanging still on a flagpole. In discrepancy however, the State seal of 1868 itself depicts a steamboat with a white flag and a red cross or saltire, similar to Florida's current flag or that of the Spanish Cross of Burgundy, which was for centuries the flag of Spain and the Spanish Empire, since 1506. The current design also resembles the Cross of Burgundy flag, which was used in Florida since at least 1559, and possibly since the naming of Florida in 1513. This design is over 500 years old, predating the flag of the United States by over 200 years.

I like this thread. I was born in South Africa under the old flag so am posting both old and new flags as my roots are there. Being a Dutchy and living in the Netherlands I am posting this flag too as it is my home.

Thanks for the reminder Marcellarius Groningen has it's own flag too. Will post it now. The Twents Flag will always be special to me  both my parents come from there and our one house in South Africa was called"Het Twentse Ros" (the Twents Horse/stallion). My father made a moziak of the flag and hung it next to our number.
But here comes Groningen
