Intarsia for my granddaughter
« on: September 28, 2014, 06:27:15 pm »
I made this Intarsia project for my granddaughter. Normally, I try to keep all of my wood choices natural, but this time I wanted to try something a little different. I used "old masters" white gel stain for part of the sweater and pants. The rest is cherry, purple heart, ash, aspen and wenge. She's a little young now to appreciate the effort, but hopefully someday she will.

I truly appreciate the encouraging replies from everyone. Crusty, I found the pattern in a book from Kathy Wise "Intarsia Woodworking for Beginners".

That's just outstanding!
I've been meaning to try that white stain, but haven't had an intarsia project in a while. That does look great. Usually I just use aspen for white, but that stain really makes the white pop!

Thanks Ray for your comments! I was very pleased with the white gel stain. I'm looking forward to another project in which I can use it again.

Beautiful work and I really like the use of the rope to tie the pieces together.
