Completed 10 Piggy Bank with Brass Nameplate order
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:21:28 pm »
Finished one of my largest piggy bank orders this morning. A grandmother wanted bank with brass nameplates for each of her grandchildren. The banks are ~ 10 inches long, 4 inches wide and 7 inches tall. The name plates are 1 inch wide, 4 inches long and cut from 0.029 inch thick brass. Sealed with tung oil and then finished with shellac.

Very nice indeed, I had enough trouble with one, but now have a band saw blade that will help me  more.

One Q I sea you have a bug or something in the base could you show me how that is done please.

Merlin,

As I only have a small bandsaw ( 9" ) the pig is cut totally with the scroll saw.  I use a stationary belt sander to shape the snout of the pig.  I wish I had a big bandsaw hehe that would make things a LOT simpler.

I put down a pattern of each name and cut them out of the brass.  I used stencil font.
