Love My Bank
« on: August 07, 2014, 03:03:00 am »
Got an email from my bank today, the heading was CARD FRAUD.....VERIFICATION REQUIRED.  I was in two minds whether to open it or not with so many scams going around.  But boy I'm glad I did.  Someone had gotten hold of my credit card number and was using it.  I only ever use it to buy things on the Internet and it only as a limit of $1000 on it in case such a thing ever happened and it never leaves my home.  But they had made 3 transactions yesterday, $700, $600 and $495. The bank stopped all three because they did not match my history.  So I contacted them and now I have a new card being sent to me.  LOVE my bank.

glad for you!

but be careful opening emails like this.
always check the senders domain name.

if the name behind the @ is the same as your other email addresses of the bank then you can open it.

I just had something similar. Someone in North Carolina was using my checking Visa debit card number at a couple drugstores and grocery stores. I live in upstate NY! The bank did cancel the card and give me a new one, but I have to wait 7-10 days to have the $150 worth of charges credited back to my account.

Slightly off this subject.  Our oldest son has been in the computer business for lots of years.  If you order something online, don't enter your credit card number without first checking the site address for https.  The "S" stands for SECURED.

If you learn to watch for it, you will notice that even the Google site is https.
