Old Grizzly saw

Hi all, i have a old VBK scrollsaw, its exatly the same saw as Grizzly G1060, mine is built in 1993.
It runs perfect, nearly no vibration and cuts nice. The problem is the blade clamps, they cant hold the plain end blades any more so i would like to find a new pair but that seems to be impossible. I cant find any of those anywere.
So my question, is there any one else that have a saw like that old grizzly and do you have the same problem?
For the moment i use a bladeholder that is a small tube with a hole in the middle for the blade and two Allen bolts from each side that hold the blade. It works but could be better.
Here in Sweden there is just very cheap useless saws or hegner and hegner is much over my budget.

Hello, Peter,
I would suggest that you carefully sand or grind the face of each side of the original
blade clamps. They are probably just worn from use and if you file them down to
close to a smooth surface, they will then hold the blades well again.

Another possibility is to allow a tool and die maker type acquaintance take measurements
and make you a couple sets of clamps. If you don't have any personal friends that happen to
work that type of occupation, perhaps there is a machine shop close by where you could inquire about prices for such a small piece or, better yet,  a trade school where a student could do it for you with the permission from his instructor.

I left this as my last suggestion because the price would probably be too excessive unless you
could convince them to just put the clamps in a bubble pouch envelope and mail it to you without

I will try to grind the surface on the clamps this weekend.

Go sparingly, it should not take too much to equal out the surfaces enough to
hold a blade again.

Hi, now i have sanded the surface inside the clamps and it did hold the blade for a short while.
I did some test cutting and then after awhile the blades slips out again.
I will try again and see if i did something wrong.

Is it possible the threads on the clamp or the screw that clamps the blade are worn and not holding tight?

Hi, Peter,
Glad to hear that seems to be a step in the right direction.
I would also run the ends of the blades over some sand-paper
before you insert the blade into the clamps.

 check out Pozsgai's Designs. he shows clamps for a 15" grizzly saw. you can call & talk to him.
 if this saw was made in china, there are probably a lot of saws with these same clamps. go to ebay under scrollsaws. there is a  lot of ss for sale. a lot of them show good pictures of their clamps.
maybe you can find one that looks like your clamps. go to ereplacement tools & see if  they have
these for that saw. hope this helps

Hi, i talked to Frank at Pozsgai Designs. Now i have orderd . EZ Set Blade Holder System used with 16" Scroll Saw, i will have to do a small modification with a file and this will work for my saw.
Now i just have to wait 2-3weeks for the shipment. It takes that time to Sweden.
I let you know when it's fitted to my saw.

Mike, I should have used you to translate my grandfather's letters.  All in Swedish between him and my great grand back in Sweden.  Paid money to a lady here for that and while it cost a bit, it was worth every penny to have some insight on their lives back in the beginning of the 1900's.  My cousin was going to throw them away because he couldn't read them!

Today i got the EZ Blade Holder System that i orderd from Pozgai's Designs.
After some modification to the saw arms with my Dremel it was fitted and it works so good.
Now i have quick blade changing to this old saw
I am realy happy now.
