A Finish for The Cathedrals.... :+}

So ALL pieces are Off the Scrollsaw and Sanded smooth.  Heres my plan.  Not sure it is Right, so will need the Cons....
     1-  Dip each piece into a Danish Oil for a minute or so.
      2-  Wipe each piece off and let dry for a day.
       3-   Assemble with Aleens Clear Glue.
         4-  Spray a few coats of Gloss Lacquer. 

The Question is....  Will glue adhere to each piece even though it has a Oil Finish? 
     Never tried this, but maybe soon gonna get my feet wet.  LOL                          Thanks Friends..............Danny  :+}

Looks like a great job so you want to "finish" it right.  I don't know about Danish oil, I use a mixture of BLO and MS, 50/50.  It does really pop out the grain and the mix dries faster than just the BLO.  Then I spray lacquer, but satin not gloss.  But every one to their own taste.  That just happens to be what I like.

Well, I use Titebond glue and it doesn't adhere too well to wood with oil or finish on it but, everyone else seem to think that Aleens glue will stick to most finishes so, go for it. Just make sure the oil is as dry as possible.
If I were to do that, I would probably assemble it with the glue first, wipe on, dip, brush, or spray the oil on, let it dry and then spray with the lacquer.
Someone else will be along soon and tell you the correct way to do the job.

PS. Even if you should miss a corner or two with the oil, I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut that you or anyone else will ever notice it once the project is finished.

I use Danish Oil more than any other finish.  It should work just like you plan, Danny.  I would absolutely finish it first.  I hate seeing glue spots after the fact.  If it gets finished first, there are none visible.

I would also be concerned about the glue sticking on an oiled surface.   How does that work?

  contact the maker of the danish, oil they should be able to give you the answer

My Thank You's to All....  Julie I am 100% with you.  Like the dipping first, so this is my plan.  I do remember using the Aleens glue on a few projects where I had painted a backer.  Remember someone here saying with only a Light weight the glue will hold Good.
So with the Tab and Slot construction (tight fits) I feel will be OK.

Try it on a couple of scrap pieces and see what happens. Rather ruin scrap than hours of hard work....  jmo
