I've Done A Little Scrolling
« on: June 17, 2014, 11:27:31 pm »
Being a pretty new person here I thought I'd show a picture of something I scrolled a little while back.  I've only done scrolling in conjunction with other projects.  Never has done just a scroll saw project.  I use a scroll saw on these little cigar box ukuleles.  The sound hole covers was scrolled.  The turtle one was further shaped with a dremel tool.   It is all one piece.  The flower on the thingy the strings are fasten to (hate getting old can't remember the name) was scrolled also.  I don't know if you can see the kokopelli in the second one, picture is pretty dark, but I drew him playing a ukulele instead of a flute.  Hope to get  much more serious about scrolling in the near future.

Great job!  8)
I'm so glad that you have discovered that scroll saw work can be used in a variety of other wood working projects! As an add on or embellishment or even complete projects.
Last winter, I did a full size electric guitar body out of cedar. I robbed the neck and electronics from a cheap guitar but, I cut the shape of the body out with my scroll saw.  ;)

Okay, I'll add one more project that I did some scrolling on just to add a little decoration to the mix. This is the back of a hand crank organ I built.  It was pretty plan looking so I took the panel off a did a little scrolling on it.

The turtle one has not be played buy a "player" yet.  I cannot play.  The Kokopelli one has been play extensively by real uke players and gets very high praise.  Fact I have requests for three if I ever get around to making them.  I have to be in the mood, or I just can't get to it.
