Skittles Tower - Proof of Concept
« on: May 22, 2014, 08:25:44 pm »
This is an adaptation of Steve Goods Gum Ball dispenser and a jelly bean dispenser I recently saw on the boards.  The skittles drop from the wheel hole and hit 3 sloped ramps to end up in the pull out tray.  It will dispense Skittles, M&M's ( all makes ) Reeses Pieces, 1/2 gumballs and small shelled nuts.

The dispenser has been cut from pine and poplar.  It is 18 inches tall and 7 inches at the base plate.  It was finished with tung oil only.  This is the proof of concept build.  I wanted to see if it would work out.

Excellent work there DW, looks great. How many of the Skittles did you eat while testing it??

Many skittles, M&M's, peanuts and a few gumballs all went through the slide.  Had to test it.... that is my story and I am sticking to it :)

Now this is a Great Idea for a Dispenser....I did make many of Just Steve's Design.  Didn't sell very well.  Ended up after holding on to them for a while just Giving them away as gifts.  I can see how you designed yours it will dispense Perfectly.  Looks pretty professional quality too.          Danny  :+}

Thanks Danny.  I have sold a fair number of the dispensers and I have found the trick to be to have 2 of them out and filled, one with plain M&M's and the other with Skittles.  I would then invite the kids to take a spin of the wheel.  Have had several parents and grandparents come back for them cause the kids liked them.
