Wooden Koozie

Cut from pine. The rings are slightly larger than a 12 oz. soda can. Since the rings are slightly larger than the can I staggered the rings to fit a can when I glued it up, this provides air pockets to help hold the cold better. The koozie was sealed with tung oil with a little bit of ebony stain and then top coated with shellac.

Marcel it is still a work in progress. I still want to flock the inside to help a bit more with the insulation and general aesthetics of the koosie however it does work pretty decently. Not having to put a hot hand on the can helps a lot in keeping it cooler longer.

Very nice. How did you attach the handle?
For some added insulation, you might look at the 2mm and 3mm foam pads sold by Hobby Lobby (Silly Winks foam sheets) rolled and glued into your shell.

.
I've used the black ones for backers and they look good, and I bet they would insulate pretty well also.

The handle is slightly recessed into the koozie. Essentially it is just glued on.. it should be strong enough.

Not bad DW, might be useful if we ever get out of winter.
