Trunks, after 6 years
« on: July 08, 2010, 05:01:04 pm »
I finally finished a project that was started 6 years ago when I had no idea what good wood or anything else was.  This is Trunks, a Dragon Ball Z character and I consider one of my most difficult pieces to date for myself.  He is cut on cheap Luan ply that a lumber company had given me to practice on.  He had been lost somewhere in the house for at least 5 years, then found and was put aside for some reason.  LOL.  He is done now.  Let me know what ya's think

Hi Cherie, I like that type of art its very similar to Manga, you did a great job considering you started it 6 years ago, you must have started scrolling very young :o.....Paul ;D

Thanks Janet....Paul, Dragon Ball Z is considered Manga.  I love the art work of Manga and my Son Chris is great at drawing Manga himself.  I took his work to graphic art class one day and my instructor showed the class and said "This is true Graphic Art."  I just wish Chris could go to a school to help his skills along.  He has a talent I could never have.

My kids have a book on how to draw Japanese characters... I guess it's manga... or sort of anyway.  They learned really quick.  They are cute drawings.  I always like the eyes.

Yeah, to me, the eyes and the hair always set these characters off.  I would love to see some of their drawings if you don't mind.  I will scan and show u some of Chris's work that I have hanging in the living room.  He has never read a book or anything on how to draw like this.

I'll see if I can find some Cherie but I dunno because I'm not sure they save their work. I think it usually lays around till I throw it out.
