Thanks everyone. It was really a relief to be able to repair instead of replace. It really wasn't that difficult of a pattern to cut but I'm just as glad not to have to do it again.
Lenny, my take-away from this project (well, the main one of several) is to be really careful to follow the instructions during assembly! In spite of being spared the annoyance and expense of making a whole new clock, I don't think I'll forget that lesson any time soon and it is probably a good reminder for others. You think you know how it all needs to go but I'll sure be double-checking in the future!

http://theartfactory.com/ . I really love his patterns. I find them easy to work with and generally forgiving. If you decide to make this clock, I'd suggest using smaller eye screws than the ones they supply with the parts kit. I couldn't get it to work with the ones they provided but when I tried the small ones I use for ornaments, it was fine.
