Gluing to painted surfaces

I wish to cut a plaque out of 1/2 inch plywood, stain the front. Then I wish to cut a backer for it out of 1/4 plywood and spray paint it. My question is this...

what glue do I use to glue the 2 pieces of plywood together that will hold, when one surface has been spray painted?

Hello my Friend Woodchuck,
     I really feel that YES all out Scrolling projects that aren't that Huge and mostly cut out of 1/4 or 1/8 stock are pretty light, so even tho spraying a backer piece isn't bare wood I say that Aleens glue is a good choice.    My 13 cents....  Danny  :+}
