I need a pattern

A good friend of mine is about to retire from the Canadian Coast Guard. His passion are his grand kids and his TriGlide. I am fortunate to have both is the same picture. Could one of you fine pattern makers out there do something with this picture? if so I would appreciate your go at it. Thanks, Clyde

Clyde , the picture is small to work  on ,I tried and all I could come up was a blurred image. If you have any other picture kindly post it.

I have cropped and resized the picture. Is that any better. or is it the picture itself? Thanks for trying.

Clyde, the size is okay but the picture is blurred.(tried) again! I am sure some of my senior friends can make a pattern from this picture. Sorry! Clyde

I am just getting the hang of doing patterns and found quickly that the pixel count makes a big difference, the higher the pixel count the better and clear the pic is for patterns, i have tried so pretty blurred it was a task, my last one I worked was pretty high in pixel count and was a breeze, looking at this one the pixel count in 800x400 I think, I found pics above 1000 pixels are easier to work with, I practiced on a pic of my cat and it was like around 3100x2500 pixels and was easy to work on.

Clyde - here's a try. It's tough to get much detail in a photo that is this far back from the subjects. If you can use it, good. If not, maybe someone can get a better pattern rendered.

as you say it is a hard one to do, in  this one as you suggested i used the "simplify"
however in this one the face/features were hard to get anything like, and when simplified were even worse.
So what I did was to undo the simplify, then
(path) (object to path)
(path) ( break apart)
the elements now being separate
then deselected
then selected the elements below the neck  line
and (simplify)
thus leaving the heads/features as i wanted them
then select all
(path) ( combine)
don't know if you have tried that but it works for me

Gentlemen, those are all great patterns. Just reading what is involved in making a pattern has my mind boggled. It is a challenging craft you have mastered and I thank you for your time and energy on this project. It means a lot to me. I am glad I am not making the decision on which pattern to do, I am depending on my wife to make the final decision. All of them are splendid. Thanks, Clyde
