I need a better light.  Not really for the scroll saw but for the painting work I do afterwards.  Can anyone recommend a good light?

Hi, Janet:

I have an Ott Light and I love it.  They are kind of pricey, but they are great, especially for painting.  I have the little folding task lamp and move it wherever I do my painting.  I just had to change the bulb about a month ago after using it for about 7 years.  I know there are knock offs, and they may fit the same bulbs in, so that may be a less costly option.  Don't skim on the bulb though, as it is supposed to not change how you see the colors you are using, if that is important to you.

Suspicions Confirmed!

Sheila is a "Pricey Girl"!!!

Correct the OTT light is great. Have one next to my chair and one in the shop that I have rigged with a magnetic base.

Sheila is 100% right on with Ott lights. The absolute best for True Color rendering. Another plus is that they are Much Easier on the eyes.  Worth the premium price and last a long time.

I would never refer to a woman as CHEAP!
Of course some are 'lower maintenance' than others!
Nor do I refer to them as 'girls', 'dolls', 'chicks', 'broads', etc.
Nor do I refer to them as "Ladies" unless I know for a fact that they are LADIES>

I was taught years ago by a 'lady' boss that "All females are WOMEN, BUT not all WOMEN are LADIES!"

Billthe Diver; I didn't know they were in Tampa. I wonder if they have a retail outlet there?  Might be able to save some money there.

The Ott light also comes in a stand up lamp that has a movable neck to adjust it as you need. My wife has both models in her quilting room.

i also use an ott light. it is the best when painting/staining a project withought casting alot of shadows. and cheap is a good thing in my book  ;D
