can't get the blade in the hole

i'm a cold weather scroller. at the end of the last cold season i bought some fd-ur no. 1 blades from Mike. the corresponding drill bit according to the web site is a #71. is there some trick to getting the blade in the hole? do i need to grind the end of the blade to a point to get it started or do i need a bigger bit?

Gramps - the FDUR#1 blade is 0.029" wide. The #71 drill bit is 0.028" diameter. So that blade will not fit into that hole. I use a 1/32" (0.031")  for the FDUR#1, or #65 or #68 bits work as well. You can get the 1/32" from Dremel (Lowes) or from Amazon.

His drill bit number don't match the blade they are one too small, will need to step up a drill bit for them to fit. I found this out after get some bits to go with blades I had ordered.

So the recommended bit is a little small.  And I thought it was me.   

I drilled holes based on Mike's bit sizes, and had one heck of a time to get the blade into 3 layers of 1/8" Baltic Birch.  I then tried needle nose pliers to push the blade through the hole.  The worked very well, a pair of needle noses will now sit beside the saw.

I also noticed that once the end (where there are no teeth) was through the wood, it was easy to push the rest of the blade through the wood.

Someone notified me about this problem. I will check with the company on Monday and let you know if they changed to measurements of the FD-UR # 1

Mike sells the mini drill bits.  I have used them for years.  Order either the .065 or .068.
Works Great.  #1 slides thru Perfectly.  #3 will have problems.  My 2 cents....  Danny :+}

I had the same problem. The bits that the blades call for is an exact fit. I use the FD UR # 5 and the bit size calls for a #68 I use a #57 and it works beautiful. Hopes this helps.
