My Hegner is Sick.... :+(
« on: November 15, 2013, 11:12:50 am »
Hey peoples.  Its a Lonely type of feeling to know Scrolling will not be for the day.  Might be this way for many days.  Terrible isn't it?  For those with Hegners there is a Connecting Link from the Motor to the Top operating Arm.  This part ONLY has a HAIR LINE CRACK on one end.  Its serious enough to cause the table to VIBRATE.  One day a nickle could be balanced and the saw running to now that nickle would go flying.  LOL  Not really.

The Brand Smakin New Part is ordered.  Anyway just thought to Post this....  Danny  :+}

Didn't do it....BUT....had some strong thoughts about buying Lowes (low end saw) for this weekend and then taking it back when the part gets here. Guilty feelings.  LOL

Did find a HAIR LINE crack in one end which is what the Hegner Rep. told me was most likely the problem.  This connecting piece is made out of some type of Plastic.  Has sealed bearings on each end.  Anyway.... Danny  :+}

Danny - did you see Martin's posting on his replacement link a while back? It looked like a much higher quality part than was likely the original. http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?topic=13845.0

Maybe he could help.

Well got a wild idea....Took the Soldering Iron out and fused that crack.  Guess what?
I now have a saw that is Usable again.  Didn't take all the Vibrating out, but most.  Yea!
Still going to install the NEW PARTS....  Danny  :+}

YES EIEIO....  Forgot about seeing that post.  Couldn't make the part anyway....

 did you consider making the part from BB Ply? It might be a temporary solution and could be made in your shop. Or get a blank piece of a similar plastic and re-cut the part on your saw (if it will work with the soldered link in place).
