Birthday
« on: November 10, 2013, 09:38:27 am »
My Beautiful Bride turned 60 today. Our house is covered in scroll saw cuttings so I wanted to try something different for a gift. This is based on Steve's Gumball pattern with a few changes. Made from 1" thick maple. If you watch Steve's video you'll see it's a little hard to catch the gumball on the way out, so I extended the base forward and added a ridge around the edge to help hold the dropping gumball. I used a 1 quart Ball Jar. The drop hole is 1" diameter, so (2) 1/2" gumballs drop each time. I plan to try M&Ms - I'd guess 5 or 6 will fall through at a time. This would be nice for an office desk for holiday candy (throttle the candy hogs a bit).

Please give my birthday wishes to your beautiful wife.  Great looking gumball machine, it would be great for my jelly beans that I keep for emergencies.

Great looking Craft there.  Modified the one I made like yours (way back yonder)  Did have problems with any type of candy etc. dropping smoothly if it WASN'T ROUND.  Peanuts,
m/m with peanuts didn't drop very well.  Maple.  Wow!  Mine was good ole PINE.  Danny :+}
