Wooden replica of magazine cover
« on: October 13, 2013, 12:16:28 am »
After noticing that the cover of the December issue of my employee magazine looked a lot like a scrollsaw pattern, I decided to try as use it as such.

The entire pattern is only about 7.5 in by 6.5 in. and after several scrollsaw blades gave up their lives, I am happy to say that it is finished.

The extremely fine detail could not be cut because the wood would break. Even tho this was not designed as a scrollsaw pattern, there were no problems with any sections falling out. I did brace some sections just to be sure they did not break.

It was cut in 1/4 tiger maple with a 1/4 inch tiger maple back.

When the pilot holes for the blades were drilled, i drilled only part of the pattern at one time. This keep me from getting confused.

WOW, very nice cutting there. Great idea to use it as a pattern too.
