Tribute To My Dog Gunner
« on: August 25, 2013, 07:34:43 pm »
On the 17th my dog Gunner died. She was a great dog. Here are two things I made for her. The grave marker I made with pine and inlay walnut for her name. The portrait is made from Red Oak as the part that is cut, Walnut frame, and the backer is just plywood that I planed down to 1/16 and painted black. I want to thank Ray (EIEIO) and Travis (tdpainter) for all of your help with the pattern. To be fair I incorporated both patterns in this portrait. The letters and date is Ray's handy work and the portrait is Travis' work. Thank you both for the pattern help. Click the pics to enlarge and you can see the cross better.

Nice work. One question -- How did you come up with the name ''Gunner'' ?? My wife and I are both dog lovers. She always comes up with these "cute" names. I like "Gunner" has a real huntin' ring to it.

Thanks. Well actually this is Gunner 2, but isn't related to our Gunner 1 that died years ago. My dad named our first Black Lab, Gunner. Both dogs are girls. Gunner 1 was a good bird dog, she would chase after ducks and swim like a champ. Gunner 2 didn't hunt. She has had problems since we got her. I hope that answers your question.
