Thanks for all the kind comments.  When I got the pattern I honestly didn't know if I could do it.  I guess it just proves that being stubborn isn't always a bad thing.

Jay,  from dark to light the woods are walnut, African mahogany and aspen.  I chose aspen over maple for the white because of the long piece at the bottom.  My theory was that, given the fine grain of aspen, it wouldn't be obvious that it was the only vertical piece on the clock with the grain going sideways. Otherwise I sure wouldn't recommend aspen.  It made a ton of fuzzies (even with a UR blade and a sacrificial piece of plywood on the bottom).  They were nearly impossible to get rid of - I would swear that sanding and filing away the old fuzzies made new ones to take their places.

I finished it with a gentle rub of Danish oil (natural).  When that dried I gave it five spray coats of Deft semi-gloss.
