I've used Loctite Ultra Gel Control superglue
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/sg_ug_cntrl/overview/Loctite-Super-Glue-ULTRA-Gel-Control.htm
. It is slower than the thin superglue - sets up in about 15 seconds. And it's thick so it will fill a void rather than run out. Sells for about $5 for a small bottle. Steve has a good video on fixing a broken scroll job using CA glue (superglue) that might be a help.

I use Gorilla Wood Glue for stronger joints. It sets enough in about 30 minutes to remove clamps and do some sanding.

I've recently tried the gorilla glue brand super glue & it works great on wood. I have also used a new glue called
fusion
it dries pretty fast and absolutely clear.

Junk is something you've kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it.

Rhino glue is expensive but has a great reputation. I use it to glue ceramic birds on an 1/8" dowel perch. Works better than anything else I have tried.
