did made me a project out of 1/2" corian.
same problem with melting.
Didn't had the polar blades so used the FD-UR #3 & #5
And turned the speed of my Hegner not higher then 1/3 of the max speed.
noticed that slower did gut better, Cut more material, and didn't melt the behind the blade together.
other problem was drilling the holes.
I had Corian with withe flakes in it. where flakes where drilling and cutting felt strange.
speed of the drill also has to be low, because it melts also and there became little bumps on top and bottom of the Corian.
think it was OK to cut Corian, but guess next project will take some time....
