Bigfoot dust collector
« on: April 16, 2013, 03:07:35 pm »
The people at Bigfoot have an under the table dust collector that looks quite unique.  http://www.bigfootproducts.ca/DCS.html  The connection for the vacuum hose is 1", as I recall, but it looks like the fitting is a regular plastic fitting so you could buy an adapter to fit a larger vacuum hose.  I also suspect you could drill out the hole in the dust collector for a larger fitting.

Interesting and innovative idea.

Yes I have seen their video, and it does look interesting. My concern is it does not address the airborne dust generated above the table. It is designed for the DeWalt 788 and it will also fit the Delta 40-690.

I watched the video and I think it would easily get glogged with small waste pieces of wood as they drop through the blade hole and since it is permantly attached it would be a big problem if it got clogged. It looks like the dust chamber is too shallow to let the pieces flow through. It is critical for me to clear fretwork by letting scraps drop down to clear the work.

My main concern would be the lack of space already under there for my BIG hands and I sure don't need something else in the way when changing blades!

p.s. To Bigfoot! Send one to Steve Good for his review!
I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

Wow.  That video inspires no confidence in me whatsoever.

Honestly, I have never done an in-depth inspection of the underside of my saw table but it seems like a rubber gasket to create a seal and magnets for a more temporary mounting (in case of clogs) would better serve the purpose.  I'm not sure I could stand the constant noise of the vacuum anyway. I think I will buy wood and blades with my money instead.

I have tried using my small 1 gallon shop vac to keep dust done, though it works under the table on top the dust flies, its still there unless you could T in a hose to get top and bottom but then again, I don't like my shop vac roaring, when I want to listen to my tunes and cut away.
