what kind of glue?

i cut one of steve goods free patterns as a gift for my brother-in-law, a welcome sign with a fisherman catching a fish. i cut it from 1/4" oak and found a nice piece of stained glass i would like to mount it to. i do have some elmers wood glue and also some super glue. would something else work better? i plan on using some minwax stain (oil base) and some satin finish polyurathane on the oak.

Hey gramps, I use a product called E-6000. It comes in a tube and is clear and flexible. It will adhere just about anything to anything!
You can get it at any craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby

Hmmm, I've never even heard of that stuff.  I think I will have to pick up a tube and give it a try myself!

I am with Becky on this....  Was just gonna ask a question concerning gluing a
two piece project together ....after....  staining/oiling.  Will give this product a try.

Goop is another, I think it is the same stuff as E6000, just a different name.

I also use E-6000 glue for joining things other than wood.  It works very well.

Years ago I used E-6000 to glue slices of Brazillian Agate to frosted plexiglass for a lamp I made.
35 yrs. later they are still stuck and holding well.

It works if you follow directions and make sure both surfaces are CLEAN!

Thanks for the information.  I have not heard of the E-6000 before but I will give a try.  I was going between hot glue and elmers carpenters.

E-6000 is just about every where, even walmart carrys it, though it can be messy it will stick to anything, wife tried it on her crafts and didn't like it, she uses modge podge or hot glue, there are different types of modge podge even outdoor. For most my stuff I just use wood glue, just even to give a good coat, put together then clamp with either ratching bar clamps, c-clamps, or even tape. If it oozes out I wipe it off with a rag or use my finger.
