EX-21 down

will what can i say.i was sawing away last evening when a big clunk noise cme from the upper arm of my EX-21.it was a bit late when it happened so i decided to wait tell this morning to see what was wrong with it took of the black case on the top of it ad what ya know i broke one of the bolts that connects the two upper control arms together.luckily i went to the local hardware store and they had some there with the same tread size and length.got it back together now i'll give it a work out later and see if it holds

Hope you got some good grade bolts will wear longer and stronger. It sucks when a tool breaks and your in the middle of a project.

will what can i say EX-21 down again. i was cutting some 3/4"ply fretwork shelf brackets and another bolt in the drive link assembly broke. as anyone else ever had this problem!time to take her apart again i guess and then take out the old 16" craftsman for awhile. >:( :(

While you have it open you might look for a root cause for the failures. One failure could be a bad bolt, but two seems like there might be a common cause. Maybe there's a bent part, a bad bearing, an interface, or something else that is breaking those links.

My EX21 broke about two months after the purchase. It turned out to be bolt in the upper arm that had been tightened too far. Ray @ Seyco said there was a batch of these that had gotten by QC at the manufacturer. Ray simply replaced my machine instead of repairing it. This was in March of 2012, so, if you purchased it during that period, this could be your problem.

will got the part ordered for my saw cost $9.20 for the bolt and the shipping $12.00 from Montreal QC to Newfoundland,glad it didn't hve to come for the US. that being said perhaps i well try the knife making kits after all the shipping don't seem nearly as bad now LOL

got the replacement part for my come today.got it all back together now up and running again.think it's time to make some more saw dust.
