My first pen
« on: January 19, 2013, 10:44:07 am »
This is my first pen. Not bad, ha. It is cut from olive wood and took me about an hour. Now I know I can do it, I must do it some more. It was easied than I thought.  :D :D

Great looking pen. You can use your scrollsaw in your pen making, I like doing the Celtic knot pattern, people will wonder how you did it!

Your first pen turned out great.  Looks like it would be fun to make.

Looks like your hooked Clyde! Soon you will be making every type of pen available. You will have hundreds of pens stockpiled and you won't know what to do with them all. DAMHIKT!  ::)
Nice work!

I make lots of pens and the "slimline" shape you made sells the best. Like Scotti, I make ones with a Celtic Knot in the top section and they sell better than all the others.

Great job!  You got things nice and flush, which can be a bear with the slimmer pens.  I can't tell from your pics, what type of finish did you use?

p.s. - A friendly word of advice; you may not want to do acrylic slimlines.  They take FOREVER, use an entire pen blank, and are prone to explode!

Great fit My first pens were under-turned or over-turned. I started turning pens faster, but then started spending more time on the finish. Still takes about an hour to do a slim. BTW, I hope your wallet is fat. Turning pens is a great diet for the wallet.
