Please allow me to introduce myself
« on: January 14, 2013, 05:08:20 am »
I'm a man of little wealth and fame  ;)

New to scroll saws. Have been carving, by hand and with a chainsaw. I saw some intarsia at a craft show we attended recently to buy some Christmas gifts and was hooked. Have been looking for something bit less demanding than chainsaws.

I spent hours reading  what I could find online then went out and purchased a saw.

Not being sure yet how this will wind up I purchased a like new porter cable saw off Craigslist. Hardly used, 1 yr old, very clean, and came with a few hundred dollars worth of wood, patterns, and extra blades.

Blades are pin type so first order of business is to order some FD blades from Mike then get the saw and shop (dust collection etc) set up and do some learning while I wait for them to arrive. Getting bit older now I can't tell you how much I look forward to working in an air conditioned shop with small, lightweight pieces of wood.

If things work out like I hope they will I plan on selling a few chainsaws and purchasing a much better saw.

Great site! I look forward to participating.

Good morning and welcome to the forum.  I'm Julie from Texas.  Glad to have you.  It sounds like you got a great deal on an excellent entry level saw.  You did the right thing by starting out ordering some good blades.  They make a huge difference in your work.

Greetings from South Dakota Scroll Down (is that in reference to the computer or the saw?).  Welcome to the madness and the addiction.

Welcome to the forum Jay, I've been making Intarsias for little over 20 years and can't wait to get you hooked on making them. I would love to see everyone enjoy this form of woodworking as much as I do.

If you ever have any questions ask away.
