After reading that I remembered being told that all the fixtures, pews,choir stalls at our church were stained with a Coffee mixture. Everything was pine when it was built 122 years ago. The fixtures still have that rich dark brown color. I think it was finished with varnish.

Hi King, I use walnut oil with some regularity. It is a nice finish but a little pricey. I generally use Danish oil but sometimes, mostly on food related items, I go back to walnut.
