cheap saw
« on: December 29, 2012, 07:16:53 pm »
My brother decided he wanted to get into scroll saw work. He bought a performax 16" scrollsaw from Menards. it seems to run and cut smooth. I think it will be a great starter saw for him. $65 :o new you can't go wrong. ;D
He has a lot to learn about woodworking, but he will do fine.

it was on sale this week

That's a better saw than what I started on. I'm sure your Brother will get many hours of enjoyment using it. Hope to see him on this forum soon.

You know looking at this again real good this is a very copy of the skil saw I had or skil copied this one, it did ok lasted about 6 projects then looked and ran like I had it 20 years. The so called bearings or bushings in the upper arm got loose allow side to side wiggle in the upper arm, blade had side to side back to front and kinda of better way to explain it, a sw to ne movement as well pending on how the blade was mounted. I took it back got a craftsman saw for the same price and it was alot better. Just be sure to oil the arm bearing(bushings) good like it says if it does before starting with it.

That is a saw that is sold by many company's. Made in one factory and painted and packaged for what ever Co. is distributing them.

I brought a cheap saw as a stand buy as I have had so much trouble with my EX 21 it is OK but the motor is too small and it has to be run at high speed to keep the revs. up
