Lathe Time
« on: October 12, 2012, 12:31:56 am »
I got a wood lathe about 11 years ago. Used it for about 2 years then we moved into an apartment. From there we moved to a condo. Now finally I am in a house with a place to put my lathe. Think I will try to do something using both the lathe and my scroll saw. Getting the lathe from storage on Saturday.

I combined the lathe and the scrollsaw to make a Pot Pourri bowl which turned out quite well

Possibly Turn some Platters and then fret the borders n base - possibly the inlay technique may work for that ;)

Sweet bowl. I have an idea for making something similar. I want to do an inlay of a desert scene. Around that I will glue some wedges of purple heart and tropical walnut.  Then glue some maple circles on each side of the inlay. Cut a bowl out of that so the inlay shows in the basin of the bowl. Will have to see how this works.
