For what it is worth, I think that any organization that is looking to advance the awareness of scroll sawing is a good thing. There are many different types of ways to do this. With clubs. With forums such as this one. With large organizations such as SAW.
We are all different people living in different areas with different ways of life and we have one common interest - Scroll Sawing. It is unrealistic to think that one organization would suit all people all the time. So I feel we are lucky that we have the choices available to join the group or organization or forum that suits our own needs.
All these clubs and organizations have hard working people - just like we have Steve here working tirelessly for us. Are some self-serving? Probably some. But that shouldn't cloud everything up. For every self-serving person, there are probably 100 people or more involved that are genuine in their want to share their love of woodworking and scroll sawing.
I think that picking what group, club or organization you choose to join is very personal - and should be. Only you can decide what is good for you and how much you want to spend (either time and/or money) being involved. For some it is all they can do to read posts and learn from others. Others may take a more up front and active role. Anything is fine. Any participation at all perpetuates the hobby we all love.
I appreciate everyone who has made an effort to do so.
Happy Scrolling! Sheila
