I know that feeling well, done it myself a few times, usually on the last few cuts too.

Wait for a cold day to use it again, at least you will get "some" warmth from your task.   Sorry for your loss.  Don't let it stop you from pressing on.

I feel your pain.  I was making the last cut on a very thin piece of purpleheart for a Christmas ornament this weekend when a crucial piece declared its independence.

I know it doesn't make it better but most every one of us has done the same thing or something similar.

This has happened to me a couple of times - on projects that were already finished.  As a rule, I try not to cuss, but...
Hang in there!!!

Sorry, that is one of the most aggravating parts of fretwork projects.  I have found it is best for me to put that pattern aside for a time.  If I jump right back in, to the same project, I invariably make another mistake pretty quickly.  I think I try and hurry to make up for lost time.  Scrolling and hurrying are a recipe for disaster, for me anyway.

Hang in there.

Hey Newfie....  Yepper.  Done been there also....BUT....  As of the past month or so I have decided on studying the over-all pattern.  Find the more delicate areas and either mark them or remember.  When I get to one of them I may start my entry from two directions.  I also have started the cut of the delicate areas at the part that I think might be apt to break.  Finish the cut into a more solid area.  Have completed many Ornaments that have lots of delicate areas and so far so good.  Yea!  Danny  :+}

Oh yea....  Forgot to mention the most important thing (my 2 cents worth).
                Unless a INSIDE cut is mostly large I WILL ALWAYS USE the FD-UR#1
                BLADE....  I feel very comfortable cutting (BALTIC BIRCH PLY) up to
                 3/4" this way.  Have had very, very good luck and I surprise myself
                 by how easy it is to follow any type of line.  Outside areas are mostly
                 FD-UR #3 OR #5....  Only Flying Dutchman Blades.  Danny  :+}

Along the lines of what Danny said, I too nearly always start a cutting with the smallest areas to be cut. Even if it means working at various areas of the over all pattern. in that way you keep the most meat (wood) for strength for the longest time as you work. I nearly always leave the outside for the last cut unless it is just too big to handle. Even then, I rough cut around the outline of the outer perimiter untill all the inter cuts are done.
