I finally completed my hourglass that I wanted to do when I saw Steve Good?s pattern.
Unfortunately the 9 inch hourglass was no longer available but I was able to modify the pattern to use the 11 inch hourglass from Rockler.
The glass nipple was a bit too long for the ? inch thick top and bottom and I had no ? inch stock. For this reason I simply drilled through the wood and placed a 1/8 inch thick walnut piece to hide the hole. This also made it easier to sand the top and bottom round with a rotary sander and a simple jig.
I used ? inch blood wood and finished it with mineral oil.
Thanks for looking
