Check out Michael's.  They have a lot of plywood and some soft woods in their wood craft section.  Jeff44

Our local Home Depot sells birch plywood, but not Baltic Birch plywood.  Big difference in quality.  We have a local lumber yard that carries the baltic birch, so it's easy for me to get here.  Good Luck!

Typically, what H.D. sells is not Baltic birch. True Baltic Birch come in 5' x 5' sheets. If it comes in 4' x 8', its not Baltic birch.

I think it was at the Blue Store last week, they had a new ( to  me)  sheet of ply called Blonde Wood Looked like it could have been poplar but the clerk was as uninformed as me!

HD has a 1/4" ply, but like DG said, not Birch. It's a China ply. Lots of voids, and very nasty to breathe. Very hard on blades. I get my Baltic Birch from sloanswoodshop.com Great prices and service. Excellent quality Birch ply. Lowes has a 5/32" ply, but has a very thin veneer top and bottom that chips and sands away quickly. Lowes has an Oak 5/32 ply that is nice to work with in 2'x4', 4'x4", and 4'x8'. I just posted 2 projects in the gallery using that Oak ply. Very nice to work with.

I also use the 5/32 oak ply also.  It is about he best thing going locally. Sometime It will have a void, and of course it will be the worst possible place. Ah another piece of designer firewood. Funny though here the Blue store usually carries    what amounts to 1/4 and 3/4 thick and the Orange store carries the 1/2 inch. Also I bought a sheet of the 1/2 inch earlier this year for about $26 and 2 weeks ago the same sheet cost $49.   I cut a bunch of 3-6 piece puzzles from the half inch. The puzzles are around 5 X 7 inches. Some less depending on the shape. I finish them with a bees wax paste and nothing else.  I sell them for $5 and they do well.  I do not use very much of the 3/4 thick.

The easiest way to tell if it is Baltic Birch is the dimentions.  A full sheet is 5' X 5'.   If you are buying 4 X 8 or a section of that (ie half sheet, quarter sheet)  you are getting birch plywood.  There is good quality birch out there but it is not baltic birch.
