Recently had our anniversary. Oak is her favorite, so I made this using 3/4" stock. The box is 2" thick, and the overlay is 1/4" aspen. Had to order some HD blades from Mike to cut the oak smoothly. Other blades weren't doing well, but the HDs made it pretty easy. Didn't realize until after I cut the overlay, the pattern wasn't truly symmetrical. Noticed it when I tried to center it on the lid. Oh well
Finished with a couple coats of shellac and several coats of wax.
