No words can ease what you went through just remember it was to relieve her pain and suffering.  She was loved enough that her passing was as it should be, held by the one who loved her enough to let her go.

tough stuff, but you did the right thing. One of the hardest things I have ever done was carry my cat out of the animal hospital after she was put down. I was invited to be with her but couldn't. I know your pain.

I think you did the right thing you decided to let the vet do it.
it's hard to lose a 'friend'  like this especially after 12 years together.
can imagine the tears.
think the cross is a nice way to remember her.
