East Pool Mine Engine House
« on: June 13, 2012, 02:14:37 pm »
My latest work (thanks to "Grampa Paul" for making me the pattern) finished with BLO / Thinners and then 2 coats of lacquer. I have also attatched a picture of the engine house for your comparison.

I really like the way you incorporated the grain pattern into the sky of the piece....

Very Well Done!

The engine houses were massive beam engine water pumps to keep the underground mines from flooding ( some mines in Cornwall are over 300feet deep and extend under the seabed so were prone to flooding)

Awesome job Keefie, The engine house turned out great, I love the grain in the wood you used for the background; actually looks like the sky.

Half the success of a project turning out better than average is selecting the right materials and you did a exceptional job.

A great job of scrolling and an even cooler story.  I am not brave enough to go down in a mine.  Seeing the huge pump would not make me feel any better.  :)  Just the opposite.

Thanks for sharing!

That is so cool to me when you can take a picture and just make it into a cut out that looks exactly like the picture. Very nice work, really inspires me for future projects.

mrtcurtis, I wish I could claim I made the pattern from that picture, but it was our very own "Grampa" Paul who made the pattern for me.  Thanks again Paul for the pattern.
