Some of my work after 3 weeks of scrolling
« on: May 07, 2012, 08:53:40 pm »

 Hi all

Thought I would share some pics with you...

I did the owls just for fun and experience and also to have a go at stack cutting I did the large owls in a stack of 3 and the small owls in a stack of 5...

I quite liked them when they were done and posted a pic of them on my facebook.... within a few hours I had friends on my facebook asking if they could buy them and how much would I sell them for.... I said I was happy for them to find nice homes to go to and that any donation is welcome for them but if they required postage the donation would at least have to cover the cost of postage....

Well someone then posted on the facebook wall they are donating $15au per large owl and would also pay the postage cost... Seems the others followed suit and now I have sold 9 owls at $15au each plus the postage paid by the buyer.... WOW for something that was done just to teach myself something I am quite chuffed at that and the money will get me the drill press I have been after for my new workshop (have been struggling with a Drill due to my hand)

Then I have also sold a few of the baby sized owls for $7 each painted in the purchasers choice of colour.

When I started out with the thought of scrolling I never intended to be selling my work or imagined that someone would even want to buy them!

I have also cut 2 small puzzles as I wanted to try a puzzle as had not done one either and I am trying all different types of cutting ie portraits wordart owls baskets to find what I enjoy the most.

Well here they are and these ones do need sanding and finishing but I also need to cut a whole lot more of them now so will finish and paint all in one big batch.

 Trev

I like them.  Nothing says that you have to do the most complicated pattern you can find.  In fact I dare say most of us do not really care for the overly complicated ones.  Each to their own though.  You are doing great work.  Keep the sawdust flying.

Very nice projects.  Its funny the first time you sell some of your work, you think it's amazing why do they want that, now I think why didn't anyone want to buy that I like it.

Thank You all for your encouragement...

So far I have sold $165 of large owls... So blown away by it all...

Will be investing this money into a drill press and some materials to start to build a proper workshop in the garage...

I also got asked to do 3 owls in gloss black and mount them on a canvas... Hope to post a picture of this one tommorow

You've been bitten by the Scrollsaw Bug!!   Nice work.  Selling your work and buying more equipment will only make it easier to complete more projects. enjoy, have fun.

Well if thats the quality of work after just 3 weeks scrolling, I'd love to see some after 6 weeks, it's fantastic, all nicely cut too. were the owls your own design or did you buy the pattern somewhere? Just showed my grandaughter the owls (she loves owls) and she wants me to make her some.
