Atlanta, GA Wood Supply?
« on: February 22, 2012, 12:14:10 pm »
Does anyone know where to get a good selection of Scrollable Wood in the NE Atlanta/Athens GA area?  I have found a sparse selection of BB Ply which is running about 4.00 for a 12x12x1/4.  I've looked online and see that most of it runs decently priced, but I'd pay an additional 50% in shipping.  Any help would be great, thanks.

Hey Jeremy, If you haven't tried yet, Call Highland Woodworking. Their website does not show lumber or BB, however I know they do have lumber in store. Their phone number is 1.800.241.6748. They are in Atlanta.

Jeremy check into SLOANS.  Their located in Tennessee.  Very, very good service.  Pretty sure a piece of BB 1/4" 12x12 is only a buck fifty.  Plus shipping of course.  Anyway  Danny  :+}

I would defiantly check out Sloans Woodshop. There shipping costs are defiantly not 50%.

Shipping & Handling  charges for the 48 contiguous states only are as follows:
$00.00 - $40.00 add $6.50
$40.01 - $60.00 add $8.00
$60.01 - $80.00 add $10.00
$80.01 and over add   15%

Thanks guys.  I appreciate it :)  I've cut a few different type 1/4 plaques with just regular single side sanded from Home Depot.  It worked fairly well, however the blue tape seems to occasionally pull the top part off of thinly cut parts.

Try Rockler in Sandy Springs.  They have a good selection of hard woods and some plywood.  The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.  They carry a lot of woodworking tools and patterns. Their parking lot is a little tight but work the effort.

Thanks again guys.  I've tried WoodCraft in Roswell, and also another one on Jimmy Carter in Roswell/Norcross called Peachtree wood supply or something today.  Eventhough WoodCraft has a great selection of lumber for building, carving and the like I didn't see to much dedicated for scrolling.  Overall I thought it was a fun store to look through.  Way too many fun projects that I'd love to get into, but atm just don't have the time.
