MO Finish

Hi.  I know this topic has been covered many time but I've not seen an answer to this question.  I have been using a 50/50 Mineral Oil and Spirit mix to dip my finished projects and am really happy with the results.  However when I went to finish my last project a thick skin had formed on top of the mixture.  I keep it in a sealed plastic container about the size of an A4 piece of paper.  Do I need to drain the solution into a container where there would be a smaller surface area?

A plastic bag or even a plastic bottle will allow some evaporation of the 'spirit' to occur A plastic container no matter how good is NOT totally airtight..

Between uses place you solution in a GLASS jar with a tight fitting lid.

Here's a wee trick from NZ.
Turn the jar upside down and let the skin form on the bottom and when you come to use it again there will be no skin on the top.
Just make sure you tape around the lid so you don't lose all your mixture.
I have used this idea many times with all sorts of liquids.

 there is a company i dont no the name but i thank rockler has it  it is a can of argon gas  that you spray in your can and it moves the oxygen out because argon is hevyer then oxygen it is what the cans of paint ,stain or any thing like it come from the factory with in it so it does not have a shelf life  you can store it forever  i will fined the name and post it today  or if you have a tig welder you can just run some gas in to your can from it

I agree with the mason jar. I use them for many smaller projects.
