does purple heart burn easy when cutting things out with the scroll saw. I use painter tap the blue by 3M...

I would say that it would depend on how thick the piece you are cutting is. I have cut it without much trouble. The blue tape will do good, but if you see that it is still burning, try putting an additional layer of clear tape over and even under it too. You should be able to do a test cut as you are sizing the piece down for cutting. That way you will know before you drill your entry holes and can put additional tape as needed. Let us know how you do.

Yes, Sheila is right. If I am cutting purpleheart 1/4" or thicker, I will always use clear packing tape over the pattern, and also on the bottom if it's 3/4" or thicker.

Cutting purpleheart can be done burn free with a little extra tape. I have a hard time sanding it with out burning.

Purple Heart can burn easy on a scroll saw. And it is a pain to sand out. The clear packing tape helps a lot. as the others suggested.
