For me my training would have kicked in and I would have been in the water in a heart beat. Never jumped in freezing water but had to jump in lakes for rescues on several occasions.

I have never jumped in freezing water, I heard it wasn't fun but the adrenalin takes over and helps.

My grandfather, who was an excellent swimmer, drowned in Lake Superior while fishing, so stories like this touch me deeply when they have a happy ending. Thanks for posting it
