Excalibur EX21 Vibration
« on: December 21, 2011, 05:33:00 am »
Hi Steve,
I am new to scrolling and I have splashed out for Christmas and bought an Excalibur EX21. Of course I couldn't wait for Christmas Day and have set it up on a very heavy bench made of angle iron I have welded up specially for the job. I have connected it up to a foot switch too. All has gone well and the saw was very smooth in it's operation at all speeds until my foot came off the foot switch and I immediately put it back on the switch. This, too quick on-off-on action caused by a bit of a stutter with my foot has caused the saw to start vibrating at speeds above about half speed I guess. Have I knocked something off balance? I am worried I may have bent or damaged something. Could I have simply caused something to go out of adjustment that I could re-adjust to regain the balance of the action? I note from other threads that other people are having some vibration problems. I would phone the manufacturers for advice but living in the UK that is not very practical and I remember from your video review of the EX21 that you have contacts within the company. Can you help or advise me please Steve.

By the way your website is so good (no pun intended)

Cheers

Hi Johnathon, I'm Keith from Cornwall. Try calling Axminster Power Tools and asking for Darren Peach, or email darren.peach@axminster.co.uk .  They have Just started to sell these saws and Darren has one of each EX16, EX21, and EX30 all set up in a room to play with so he can learn all the inns and outs of the machines and all the set up procedures. I had similar trouble to you but mine was with the ordinary on off switch, it knocked and juddered when starting then after that it vibrated badly over 1/2 speed, but as my machine was only 2 weeks old they exchanged it for a brand new one and set up all the adjustments for me in his workspace. he was going to keep my old one to look at it and find the problem. The maintenance section will be shut down till 2nd or third of Jan then normal hours will resume. Hope this is of some help.
It's all a case of "Mind over Matter",  The Government don't Mind, and I don't Matter.
