Very nice Santa GB! I agree with you, Portraits are a lot of fun and rewarding! The most inside cuts I have done so far is 450.
How many layers do you have in that stack?

This is going to go in MY collection except for the one I send my daughter and her husband for Christmas....
So I am only making 2...using that Red Oak p'wood we got from WoodCraft.
Two sheets with some nice grain....sanded well to 320 grit and ready for the BLO

Yeah I figured it was the Woodcraft plywood! I still have a stack of it! Looking forward to seeing the completed project.

I'm going to make a frame (my first attempt) for the present and for the other one I will add it to my "Animals on Black Felt" collection.  Will have to see how my homemade frame comes out to decide if I will make one for mine.

aka ... "Father Christmas'
(that was about 12 years ago when I was into a bit of 'acting' and played Father Christmas for a house tour.)
