when i got home fri. night i had a message from my repair shop about my saw. had to wait till today to call back. said they had sent my saw to dewalt service center in Louisville. didn't know what was wrong but would take $110.23 to fix it. told them to go ahead & fix it, but save me the bad parts.
if it rains tomorrow i will pick it up, if not i will wait till Fri. more to follow later.

110$ sounds like a new engine or so... definitely something big.

i picked up my saw but i got home to late to try it out.they replaced part # 8- rocker asy. vert-
$47.24 & part # 19- $4.35. they said it was bent & that it was a common problem with Dewalts.
if you do a lot of cutting & raise your upper arm a lot it can get bent that way.thats how mine got bent. i finished a cut it was running fine switched to next hole & it started knocking. thed said that you should never pick your saw up by the top arm. that is also a good way to bend the part. you  would think as long as they have had this problem they would try & do something about it. i guess they have in a way. they put out a clone called it Porter Cable, painted it grey & black & trying to
rip off more people. one mans opinion. if they would correct some of these problems they could have
one of the better saws on the market. i wouldn't mine paying a little more for it. i love their blade changing system. as i said one mans opinion

so the upper arm construction was bend? how can that happen?
did you pick up your saw on the top arm? or pull the table around on that one?

strange.

the part that bent controls both upper & lower arms. look at a breakdown of the saw & you will see what i am talking about. try ereplacement parts for picture. no i did not pick my saw up by the upper arm. as i said it was running fine on one cut & when i changed holes it started knocking. the service center said it was a common problem with Dewalt. has been going on as long as they have been on the market.
